Jacob Abernathy became an attorney to seek justice for those who have been wronged. Now, as an attorney with the Wendt Law Firm, he achieves this each day for the members of our community who have been harmed and injured.
While pursuing his legal education, Jacob (Jake) began his legal career as a Law Clerk at the Wendt Law Firm, where he routinely worked on cases involving motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, sexual abuse, and wrongful death.
After completing law school and becoming a licensed attorney, Jake served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Adam Caine in the 16th Circuit of Jackson County, Missouri, where he gained valuable experience in all types of civil and criminal litigation.
At the end of his clerkship, Jake joined the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney representing the State of Missouri and seeking justice for the victims of criminal acts. During his time there, he successfully litigated each stage of the criminal process, including at evidentiary hearings, bench trials, and jury trials.
Now, as an attorney representing injured victims or the family members of those who have been injured, Jake brings the same skills and advocacy from his previous experiences to negotiations and litigation in efforts to make our clients whole.
Jake attended the University of Missouri – Kansas City, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry before then attending law school and earning his Juris Doctorate, graduating cum laude. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri.
